Post Mortem Illumination

It would take death to know who truly cares for you.

I was just thinking about what it would be like if I were to just suddenly die due to an accident.

Would people mourn for me?

I know my family will, that much is certain.
But what about friends?
Those whom I refer to as friends.

Will they mourn for me?

This redefines friendship for me.
All are my brothers and sisters, yet so few are truly my friends.

Dominicke is right.
There's no such thing as best friends and just friends.
Friends are, by definition, best friends.
There's been way too many cases when I gave my trust too easily and was too easily betrayed.
Friendship is mutual; otherwise it wouldn't work.

Imagining my funeral, I can only see a couple of my friends truly mourning for me.
Those are my friends.
Those are the people I will invest in.
Of course, being apathetic towards the rest is out of the question.

Cultivate endlessly..

  1. i would be sad if you died. but i would be sad for myself and sad for your family and sad for everyone who misses you. it would be a selfish sorrow; it would be feeling pity for myself. so i would hope that i would not mourn for too long, because knowing you are in heaven with God will be much more relieving and takes many burdens off our shoulders. when you are on earth, there's so much potential for hurt/pain/wrongs to be done unto you, but in heaven, there is none of that. does this make sense?
some advice i got recently because i was struggling with the question of who to invest in. (i dont know if you saw but my friends dad posted on that one note i wrote on facebook) dont invest in people and expect anything in return. plus, not everything on earth is give and take. you dont serve people with the expectation of being served back just the same. you do it because you want to glorify God through our actions and try to live as Christ did.
i hope this makes sense...haha especially that first part. im not saying that i would be like, hecka happy if you died. cause i WOULD miss you. but yeah, heaven OWNS earth. one thing paul wrote in philippians (i think) is that he would love to go to heaven at once, because its awesome there and to die is to gain christ, but he is OK with staying on earth because there is much work to be done. and also "to live is christ" :D
